Community Volunteers
Keeping our Mission community alive is only possible through the donations
of goods, services and time from our many volunteers who every day
make it possible for us to open our doors and meet the needs of community
members who participate in Mission life. Volunteers and contributors
include church members, school students, nursing students, business
people, local firefighters and their families, hospital staff, and
residents of Surrey and surrounding areas.
Volunteers from various churches and other organizations provide community meals and other services at the Mission. High school students help prepare and serve meals weekly. Student nurses do community nursing rotations at the mission, often devising and initiating innovative projects for community benefit, such as foot care and handwashing clinics, interviews with program participants, research, video productions, and brainstorming new models for our wellness clinics. Firefighters bring food throughout the year and help us make Christmas an extra special time. RCMP officers and transit police meet to resolve issues and assist in other ways. We appreciate all those who give their time, skills, and care to help the Mission help the community.
Mission Corps Volunteers
The Mission Volunteer Corps includes people who have been or are currently
homeless as well as community volunteers and mentors. The Volunteer
Corps assisted with recycling efforts during Olympics 2010 at the
City of Surrey’s Celebration Site at Holland Park. Other projects
include the Adopt-a-Street program, keeping the Mission grounds and
surrounding areas clean and tidy, sorting and storing donations, helping
others to set up their new homes and a myriad of other building and
grounds maintenance chores.
